Make a Daddy/Mommy Book:Make a small photo album of pictures of just the deploying parent and the deploying parent with the kid/s. I think it helps if it's something sturdy that they can travel with. I used the plastic "Who loves baby?" photo album by Sassy that you can find in the baby section at Target. Whenever we made a trip to Grandma and Grandpa's house we were able to take Daddy with us.
Story Time:
Record a video of the deploying parent reading some of your child's favorite books before they deploy. Your kid/s can watch the video at bedtime or whenever they start missing their parent.
