Owning a Home is $tressful!
The Hubs was promoted to LTJG on Tuesday. We've been looking forward to this pay raise for a LONG time! We've been trying to tackle our debt for a while now, and 2011 was shaping up to be a good year to do just that. Then, things began to fall apart. Well, it really seems like things have been falling apart from the moment we moved into this house 19 months ago. It's a 2200 square foot house that was built in 1978, so it's big and older than me. So......since we've moved in Hubs has had to replace two toilets, a garbage disposal, install a vent fan in the bathroom, and numerous other smaller jobs. Thankfully he's quite handy. Most recently, I discovered a leak in the dishwasher when water was coming up out of the wood flooring in the kitchen. I'm pretty sure the leak had been there for a few months and it just took us this long to notice it. So, we had to spend the money we were saving for a new sofa set on a new dishwasher. The wood flooring in our kitchen is all messed up, and there's mold behind the cabinetry next to the dishwasher. Oh, and the week before I discovered the leak in the dishwasher, I discovered a leak in our water heater. AND, on top of all the things falling apart in our house, we had to drop $700 on brakes for my vehicle in December. At this rate, I wonder if we'll ever be out of debt. I also wonder what's going to kick the bucket next.....

It's stories like these that have made me very house-shy. I still love the idea of owning one, but not till Oliver is out of the military, I think. I hope this year is a better one for you guys, and nothing major breaks! It always happens at the worst times, huh.
Can I have your old couch?
haha! Yes, Rose! Want me to have Josh haul it down tomorrow? :)
BZ on your husband's promotion to LTJG. I can still remember my promotion to JG in 1984. Nice to get rid of those gold Ensign bars and become a 'telephone' Lieutenant. Congratulations. LT is just 2 years away - hooray!!
Thanks Captain! :)
